  • The Foundations Of Dance

    The Foundations Of Dance

    One of the things that we do here at Team Kaizen to help students develop their dance skills is give them strong foundations in the various styles of dance.

    We regularly give kids the chance to learn from specialists in their respective fields. Why is this important? This means they receive a real understanding and technique of the style which helps them dance to a higher level.

    Learning the foundations of locking, popping, hip hop, house and breaking lets the students perform these moves much better when they appear in a dance routine or choreography. They develop confidence in the skills which make someone a good dancer.

    Locking – a funky style of dance which teaches students how to groove and also relax when they dance.

    Popping – another funky one good for keeping a strong rhythm and learning isolations.

    Breaking – helps the children become more confident with floor work.

    House – gives the students the ability to develop their footwork skills.

    The children at our Kent academy become all rounders and this shows when it comes to the time to show off their street dancing skills during performances!

    The Street Dance Summer Workshops Recap

    What a week!!

    The Street Dance Summer Workshops was a huge success! We started off with a packed room full of some shy and nervous students, this is all changed half way through our first workshop when everyone started to get into the swing of things.

    A new Street Dance style was taught everyday, the styles were taught by some of our resident Team Kaizen tutors and a couple of special guest tutors. The styles we covered throughout the week were Breaking, Locking, House and Hip Hop as well as some choreography and party dances.

    From everyone here at Team Kaizen we would like to say a huge well done to everyone who took part over the week, we saw some huge improvements due to everyone working so hard.

    Should we do another next year? We’ll just have to wait and see. Next stop the Team Kaizen Dance Academy.

    For sound regular training in street dance our dance academy in Kent will make your weekends. It’s perfect for those that love to dance and want to do it more than once a year!

    From Monday 10th August – Friday 14th August Team Kaizen will be holding Street Dance Summer Workshops, every day a new style will be taught by one of the Team Kaizen tutors. Ages Start from 5+. Students can either book individual days or the full week.
